ISHIGAKI STARGAZING(Kuura)

The Yaeyama islands are renowned for the quality of star and planetary observation that is possible. This is because of the islands’ location close to the Tropic of Cancer and favorable atmospheric conditions (free of jet streams for example). Because of these conditions and geographic position the Southern cross and some 84 of the known 88 constellations can be viewed from Ishigaki. The stars which can be seen on any one night depends on the season and weather conditions.

Your tour commences by picking you up at one of the times below from your hotel or the ferry terminal. You will be taken to an area close to Kuura which affords a `dark sky`. you can then relax on a reclining seats and let our guide inform you of the various stars and planets which can be observed that evening. You will also be able to view the stars, or planets through the telescope provided. the tour lasts approximately one hour, after which you will be returned to the original meeting point.

Depends on the cloud condition on the actual day, there may be a possibility that the stars will not be very visible. We seek your understanding in advance.
No tour in December and January due to wet weather. However, most of tours in November, February and March are likely to be canceled due to the weather.
100% cancellation fee will be charged in case of no-show on the day.
