This is one of the most popular, and memorable, tours on the islands.
Pinaisara (meaning `like a beard`) at 55 meters is the highest waterfall in Okinawa. The waterfall has this name as from a distance it appears like a man`s beard. The tour combines an unforgettable kayaking trip through an unspoilt mangrove forest on the Mare and Hinai Rivers followed by a jungle trek to the top of the waterfall, where the views are breathtaking. Then descend to its base where you can swim in the natural pool below.
The trip commences with a ferry ride to Uehara port on Iriomote, . You will then be transported to the nearby kayaking base. Full instructions and appropriate waterproof gear for kayaking will be provided before the tour start. Taking a gentle kayaking adventure for approximately an hour along the Mare and Hinai rivers, both lined with mangrove trees and the wildlife which inhabit the forest. Alight at the base station and then have a jungle hike for approximately 50 minutes through the forest to the top of the Pinaisara Falls. En route the guide will explain and point out the various plants, trees and wildlife.
Then take lunch at the top of the waterfall, with the beautiful scenery surrounding you below, before descending to the waterfall basin. There will be time for a cooling swim in the pool below the falls before paddling back to the kayaking base, and then back to the Port for the return trip to Ishigaki.
An active and enjoyable trip to appreciate unspoilt nature.
